THE EFFECT OF DIAPHRAGMATIC PLICATION ON CHEST WALL DYNAMICS

In the last EACTS meeting celebrated in Milan, presented by A. Kerr nee Bradley and colleagues from Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, are the first data in humans showing the improvement in chest wall motion in both operated and contralateral sides following diaphragmatic plication for unilateral paralysis (CTSNet)

Following diaphragmatic plication for unilateral paralysis, the effects on global chest wall function are unknown. Our hypothesis was that chest wall function would improve in both sides of the chest after plication of the paralysed side (Abstract).
